I did the cover illustration for William Dicey’s collection of essays, Mongrel, before I’d read any of the essays. When I got a copy of the book and read the essays I felt that I’d got rather lucky to have been involved with something so clever.

I also thought that I’d like to make some paintings in response to two of the essays (‘Miss Meat Festival’ and ‘South African Pastoral’). These were up at the Ebony Gallery in Franschhoek as part of the Franschhoek Literary Festival.
